Precision Decision Making in Platinum Resistant Ovarian Cancer: Folate Receptor Alpha Expression and Other Biomarkers Into Contemporary Care
Activity Overview
The GOG Foundation, Inc. and GOG Partners welcomes gynecologic oncologists, oncologists, advanced practitioners (NP/PA/PharmD), and other clinicians who treat patients with gynecologic malignancies to join us for the Precision Decision‑Making in Platinum‑Resistant Ovarian Cancer: Folate Receptor Alpha Expression and Other Biomarkers Into Contemporary Care, an Educational Symposium being presented at the FSGO 2026 Annual Meeting in Long Boat Key, Florida a on Friday, June 12, 2026 from 7:35 am – 8:25 am ET.
This educational activity is supported by an independent medical education grant from AbbVie.
Course Description
Despite advances in ovarian cancer treatment, outcomes for patients with platinum‑resistant disease remains poor, with therapeutic decisions becoming increasingly complex as novel biomarkers and targeted therapies emerge. This 45‑minute case‑based educational program will provide clinicians with practical guidance on integrating folate receptor alpha (FRα) testing into real‑world decision‑making, alongside emerging considerations such as weekly paclitaxel and/or bevacizumab eligibility, PD-L1, HER2 status, and other biologic drivers. Through interactive discussion of patient cases led by two expert faculty, learners will explore how biomarker evaluation, clinical characteristics, and prior therapies influence treatment selection and sequencing, with an emphasis on optimizing outcomes in platinum‑resistant ovarian cancer.
Target Audience
Gynecologic and medical oncologists, oncology researchers, clinical trial investigators, advanced practice providers, and healthcare professionals involved in the care of patients with ovarian cancer.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of the activities in this series, learners will be able to:
- Describe the clinical relevance of folate receptor alpha (FRα) expression in platinum‑resistant ovarian cancer and its role in identifying patients for targeted therapeutic approaches.
- Apply biomarker‑informed decision‑making—including FRα status, HER2 PD-L1 expression, and clinical eligibility for weekly paclitaxel and/or Bevacizumab to individualized treatment selection in platinum‑resistant disease.
- Evaluate real‑world patient cases to understand appropriate sequencing of therapies and integration of emerging evidence into contemporary management strategies.
